Controls EngineerThe role of the Controls Engineer is to bridge the technical gaps of the salesmen throughout the entire process, from estimate through project completion. The Electrical Controls Engineer will be required to work on projects ranging from basic control panels to controls for complete safety and automation systems through all phases of the project including conceptualization, estimate, design, integration, installation, and implementation. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the electrical controls field.
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Additionally, they will lend technical support to other areas of the business: Customer Service, Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Service and Repair. Reports to the Engineering Manager.Responsibilities:Design and develop new control systems or modify existing systemsWork collaboratively with sales, operations, purchasing, engineering, and productionLiaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, and relevant authoritiesUnderstand and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards of the country in which work is undertakenFollow and contribute to the improvement of Departmental processes and proceduresAssist Sales Application Engineers by providing timely estimates and quotesProject manage small to midsize automation projects from conception to start-up within cost and time constraintsGenerate wiring diagrams and panel layouts utilizing AutoCAD ElectricalWrite computer software and perform PLC and HMI programmingAssist with installations, start-ups, troubleshooting, and problem-solvingMaintain project files on our networkAccept responsibility and a level of accountability commensurate with the positionMentoring and training of other Fluid Systems EngineersProvide product training as requiredOther Engineering functions as neededRequirements:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Safety, or a related field, or a minimum of eight years of experience in a fast-paced Integration Engineering environment.
A combination of education and experience will be considered.Ability to develop innovative concepts for turn-key safety automation and conveyor systemsStrong Control application experience utilizing PLC's, HMIs Experience with Omron, Phoenix, and Rexroth Control X plus.Familiar with the application of machine hard guarding and associated electrical safety products – FGRs, light curtains, safety PLCsFamiliarity with standards such as Tier IV, ATEX, ABS, MSA, CE, NFPA, OSHA, ASTM, etc.Experience estimating and quoting engineered systemsStrong Project Management experience, especially for heavy spec driven and multi-disciplined projectsExperience working with engineers to develop engineered system requirements, scope of supply, and defining project risksExperience working in an ISO environment and applying OSHA, Safety, and N.E.C standards, working knowledge of ISO 13849, NFPA70, NFPA 79, and UL508AStrong verbal and written communication skillsThe successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects at onceStrong time management, planning, and organizational skillsDriven to obtain 100% Customer Satisfaction while maintaining high profitability consistent with engineered systemsBenefits:Medical/Dental/Vision/Disability effective first of the month after the hire datePTO accrual begins upon hireReferral bonuses100% employee-owned plus 401k with company match
