Job Description
Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Controls & Communications Engineer to provide technical oversight and coordination for a major industrial controls project. This individual will serve as the owner's representative and technical lead for controls and communications activities, working closely with a third-party systems integrator to ensure successful design, implementation, testing, and commissioning of control system infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SCADA systems, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), industrial networking, instrumentation, and process controls .
Responsibilities:
• Provide technical oversight and guidance to a third-party controls' integrator throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and validate control system architecture, network design, instrumentation plans, and process control strategies.
• Act as the primary technical liaison between project stakeholders, engineering teams, operations personnel, and controls contractors.
• Monitor project execution to ensure compliance with engineering standards, specifications, and operational requirements.
• Support configuration, integration, testing, and commissioning of SCADA and DCS platforms.
• Review and approve controls documentation, including:
• Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and startup activities.
• Ensure cybersecurity, network reliability, and system performance considerations are incorporated into project execution.
• Assist with operator training, system turnover, and post-implementation support.
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience with industrial control systems and automation projects.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Ability to review technical documentation and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and project coordination skills.
Preferred:
• Direct experience with Emerson Ovation DCS .
• Experience in power generation, utilities, water/wastewater, manufacturing, process industries, or other industrial facilities.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as:
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
