Compensation: $135,000 - $150,000 + 25% bonus

Our client, a well-established real estate, development, and property management company, is seeking a Controller to lead accounting and financial operations. This individual will serve as a strategic business partner while ensuring strong financial reporting, controls, compliance, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do:

Financial Leadership & Reporting

• Lead all accounting and finance operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Oversee property accounting, CAM reconciliations, lease administration, rent rolls, and tenant account reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with lease accounting standards (ASC 842) and revenue recognition requirements.

Audit, Controls & Compliance

• Oversee annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance procedures.
• Ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Lead financial system enhancements and process improvement initiatives, including ERP optimization and data consolidation.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Provide coaching, performance management, and guidance to support team growth and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance;
• 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including full-cycle accounting within real estate, property management, or development environments.
• Strong experience with consolidated financial statements, audits, internal controls, lease accounting (ASC 842), and revenue recognition.
• Proficiency with real estate accounting systems such as Yardi, MRI, and/or RealPage; NetSuite experience is a plus.
• Background with larger organizations and established best-practice accounting environments preferred.
