Location: New York, NY – Hybrid, 3 days in office / 2 remote

Salary: $175,000–$200,000 base + bonus + potential stock ownership

Job Description

We are partnering with an established, growing project-based professional services organization in New York City to hire a Controller.

This is a senior leadership position with responsibility over a large accounting and finance team and a broad remit across financial reporting, accounting operations, project accounting, controls, audit and process improvement.

The business is particularly interested in proven accounting leaders who have managed sizeable teams within AEC, professional services or other project-driven environments.

Direct engineering experience is not essential. The priority is finding someone who understands project-based accounting and has demonstrated the ability to lead, develop and improve a substantial finance function.

The Role

You will oversee a broad accounting function covering financial reporting, month-end and year-end close, project accounting, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and related accounting operations.

You will lead and develop a large accounting team while partnering with senior leadership and operational teams across the organization.

Key responsibilities will include financial reporting and close, project accounting and revenue recognition, WIP and project financial performance, budgeting and forecasting, audit coordination, internal controls, accounting policies, process improvements and team development.

The successful candidate will have significant accounting leadership experience and a track record of managing teams of at least 10 people.

Experience within architecture, engineering, construction, consulting or another professional services/project-based organization is strongly preferred.
