Onsite Full Time Staffing and Recruiting

Our client, a growing, multi-location distribution company in the mechanical equipment space, is hiring a Controller to join their team. This is a newly created role that comes out of the company’s growth. Leadership needs deeper, more rigorous financial reporting and an accounting leader who can build the function properly.

If you want real ownership, autonomy, and visibility with executive leadership in a fast-paced, collaborative culture, this is a role you can make your own.

What You’ll Do

  • Direct and oversee all accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and month-end and year-end close.
  • Evaluate current workflows and build standardized accounting procedures, internal controls, and scalable financial systems that can keep up with the company’s growth.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, analyze variances, and give executive leadership clear, actionable financial insight.
  • Own budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and working capital management, including credit hold protocols, collections strategy, and banking relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements, tax filings, and governance protocols.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop an established accounting team of three.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
  • Background in distribution, wholesale, or construction-related industries is strongly preferred.
  • A strong command of inventory accounting, commission structures, cash flow management, and high-volume order and billing workflows.
  • A track record of implementing accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Advanced ERP experience, ideally Epicor or a comparable distribution system, plus advanced Excel skills. Power BI experience is a plus.
  • An entrepreneurial, self-starter mindset and comfort in an agile, growing business.

Why This Role

  • You’ll have a high level of autonomy to modernize processes and leave a lasting mark on the company’s financial structure.
  • You’ll be part of a supportive, energetic team where results are recognized.
  • The business has long-term stability and room to grow alongside it.
  • Competitive salary plus medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with match, and PTO.
