A well-established Nonprofit Organization in Newark, NJ is seeking a Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and help drive financial excellence across the organization. This is a full time opportunity with excellent benefits.
Responsibilities:
✅ Oversee all general accounting functions, including General Ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
✅ Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
✅ Ensure compliance with nonprofit grant accounting
✅ Prepare financial statements, budget analysis, and reporting packages
✅ Support annual audits and regulatory filings
✅ Maintain internal controls and improve accounting processes
✅ Partner with leadership on financial planning and operational decisions
Qualifications:
✔ Prior nonprofit accounting experience required
✔ Strong knowledge of General Ledger, AP, AR, and financial reporting
✔ Experience managing the month-end and year-end close process
✔ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
✔ Strong communication and leadership skills
