Controller

An Investment Management Firm based in New York City is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join their team as a Controller.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee fund accounting and financial reporting, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables.
• Review work prepared by external administrators and internal accounting staff, including valuations, reconciliations, allocations, and supporting schedules.
• Review financial statements and related disclosures for funds and affiliated entities in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
• Validate investment activity, cash balances, and financial results, investigating discrepancies and coordinating resolutions.
• Prepare and review performance calculations, investor reports, and other financial analyses.
• Oversee accounting for investor capital activity, including contributions, withdrawals, and distributions.
• Review fee and allocation calculations for consistency with governing documents and investor agreements.
• Monitor cash requirements and financing activity, supporting related reporting and compliance obligations.
• Coordinate accounting and reporting arrangements for new entities and investment initiatives.
• Manage external audits, including timelines, supporting documentation, and resolution of auditor inquiries.
• Partner with tax advisors on compliance, tax-related calculations, and investor reporting.
• Coordinate required regulatory reporting with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting professionals while overseeing daily workflows and deliverables.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Active CPA designation required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including in-house fund accounting or controllership experience with an investment management firm. xzgxqkn
• Experience managing ongoing investor capital activity and accounting for complex fund and investment entity structures.
