Controller

A Financial Services Firm based in New York City is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join their team as a Controller.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review journal entries related to payroll, investments, intercompany transactions, depreciation, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other complex accounting activities.
• Monitor weekly cash balances and ensure client accounts are appropriately funded to support ongoing operations.
• Prepare and review monthly financial reports, analyses, and management reporting packages.
• Maintain and support budgeting and financial planning systems, partnering with internal teams to implement updates and enhancements.
• Develop ad hoc financial analyses and reporting to support business and client needs.
• Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, financial institutions, and other external stakeholders.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and value within cash management and accounting operations.
• Prepare and review annual audit workpapers, financial statements, and related disclosures while coordinating with external auditors.
• Support annual tax compliance processes, including preparation of tax schedules and coordination with tax advisors.
• Manage grant reporting requirements and monitor restricted assets for nonprofit organizations.
• Provide on-site client support to improve financial operations, reporting processes, and overall efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA license required.
• 15+ years of accounting experience, with significant experience supporting nonprofit organizations.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, including Form 990 preparation and related tax reporting requirements. xhqgsiq
• Proven experience overseeing month-end close processes, financial reporting, and general ledger activities.
