LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established, product/inventory-based company looking to bring a hands-on Controller to their team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organization at an important stage of its evolution and play a key role in strengthening and scaling the accounting function.

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will take ownership of the day-to-day accounting function while serving as a key finance leader within the organization. This individual will oversee the close and financial reporting processes, strengthen controls and procedures, develop the accounting team, and help improve the quality of financial and operational reporting.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being hands-on while also operating at a leadership level. This person will work closely with the CFO to create additional structure and scalability as the organization continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end and year-end close, general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting activities.
• Manage and develop the existing accounting team while establishing appropriate accountability, processes, and best practices.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, procedures, and reporting infrastructure to support continued growth.
• Partner with the CFO on audit activities, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and other strategic finance initiatives.
• Play an integral role in an upcoming ERP implementation, including system requirements, data validation and migration, testing, reconciliations, chart of accounts, and reporting design.
• Develop enhanced cost, margin, and profitability reporting across products/SKUs, customers, locations, and business/service lines.
• Support future M&A activity and post-acquisition integration, including accounting processes, systems, reporting, and controls.
• Partner cross-functionally with operational leadership to improve financial visibility and provide meaningful analysis to support business decisions.
• Help professionalize and scale the finance organization while maintaining a practical, collaborative approach to change.

Ideal Background

• Strong hands-on Controller or senior accounting leadership experience within a middle-market organization.
• Experience working within a private equity-backed environment strongly preferred.
• Background supporting a business with inventory, products, manufacturing, distribution, life sciences, pharma, or other operational complexity.
• Demonstrated experience with ERP implementations or significant accounting systems projects.
• Exposure to M&A, acquisition integration, or rapidly scaling organizations highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, audit, financial reporting, and operational accounting.
• Experience with cost accounting, inventory accounting, and/or detailed margin and profitability analysis.
• NetSuite experience is a plus.
• Proven ability to lead and develop an accounting team while remaining comfortable rolling up their sleeves when necessary.
