Controller

Our client, a prominent, multifaceted consulting firm located in Louisville, Kentucky, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will play a key role in overseeing the firm's financial health, strengthening internal processes, and providing financial insights to support strategic business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the firm's accounting and financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, cash flow, and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and manage month-end and year-end closings.
• Monitor revenue, expenses, profitability, and key financial performance metrics.
• Provide financial analysis, reporting, and recommendations to Managing Partners and firm leadership.
• Develop annual budgets, financial forecasts, and projections.
• Monitor performance against budget, analyze variances, and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operating margins.
• Support long-term financial planning, firm growth, compensation, and distributions.
• Establish and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and financial procedures.
• Oversee payroll accounting, benefits, and related reconciliations.
• Coordinate annual financial reviews, audits, and compliance with applicable tax and reporting requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and operational efficiency.
• Monitor billing, collections, and accounts receivable performance.
• Serve as a trusted financial advisor to Managing Partners and senior leadership.
• Communicate financial results and trends clearly to support business decisions.
• Collaborate with administrative staff and department leaders while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA not required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience.
• Public accounting or professional services firm experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, financial statements, payroll, cash management, and month-end closing.
• Proficiency in accounting software, financial reporting systems, and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and handle confidential financial information with discretion.
