Position: Hands-On Controller for Beauty/ CPG company in Los Angeles Arts District

About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing color cosmetics and beauty brand based in Los Angeles, with about $15M in annual revenue. Its products sell through ecommerce, national retail, wholesale, Amazon, TikTok Shop and international partners. The team is lean and entrepreneurial, so every role has real ownership and visible impact.

The Role

We're looking for a hands-on Controller who personally owns the month-end close and leads a two-person offshore finance team (A/R and A/P). You'll do the work and direct it: the close, consolidations, cash and reporting stay with you.

This is not a review-only seat. It's for someone who likes being close to the numbers, enjoys building better processes, and wants a direct line to the CEO.

What You'll Do

• Own and run the full month-end close under US GAAP, from journal entries through final financial statements
• Lead multi-entity accounting and consolidations
• Manage inventory and COGS accounting across a high-SKU catalog (500+ SKUs)
• Reconcile marketplace activity, including Amazon settlements and TikTok Shop payouts, plus ecommerce, retail, wholesale and international channels
• Process payroll and keep payroll accounting accurate
• Direct, review and coordinate the work of a two-person offshore finance team across time zones
• Manage cash and deliver timely, reliable reporting to the CEO
• Flag issues early and push back when the numbers don't add up
• Improve the close: tighten timelines, build controls and strengthen systems as the business grows
• Partner with the outgoing Controller on a structured two-month handoff before year-end

What You Bring

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years as a Controller, Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager personally owning the month-end close
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
• Experience at a consumer packaged goods or physical-product company (beauty or personal care a big plus)
• A track record of personally running a full month-end close, not only reviewing one
• Payroll processing experience
• High-SKU inventory and COGS accounting (500+ SKUs)
• Multi-channel experience across ecommerce, national retail, wholesale, Amazon, TikTok Shop and international sales
• Hands-on marketplace reconciliation (Amazon settlements, TikTok Shop payouts)
• Multi-entity accounting and consolidations
• A confident, direct communication style: take ownership and speak up when something is off
• Availability to start immediately

• Experience leading offshore or outsourced finance staff across time zones
• A background that blends larger-company rigor with lean, hands-on execution

Compensation, Start Date & Hours

• Base salary: $125,000–$140,000, depending on experience
