GHJ’s relationship with our Global Advisory and Accounting Network provides the resources needed to better understand client’s needs, attract a higher caliber of candidates and assess candidate potential.Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of our organization in Commerce, CA.

This fully onsite role will oversee all accounting functions, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, manage banking and insurance relationships, and support executive leadership with financial insights. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, multi-entity accounting experience, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & CloseOversee and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processesPrepare and review monthly financial statements and management reportsEnsure accuracy and compliance with GAAPLead financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting processesPresent financial results and insights to executive leadershipMulti-Entity AccountingManage accounting operations across multiple entities, ensuring proper intercompany transactions and consolidationsOversee general ledger integrity and chart of accounts structureEnsure accurate entity-level and consolidated reportingBanking & Cash ManagementManage and maintain banking relationshipsOversee cash flow management, forecasting, and treasury functionsNegotiate banking services, credit facilities, and related agreementsMonitor covenant compliance where applicableInsurance & Risk ManagementManage annual insurance renewals including general liability, workers’ compensation, property, and other corporate policiesServe as primary liaison with brokers and carriersEvaluate coverage levels and recommend risk mitigation strategiesPayroll & ComplianceOversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulationsEnsure timely and accurate payroll tax filings and reportingMaintain internal controls related to payroll and benefitsLeadership & OperationsSupervise and mentor accounting staffDevelop and strengthen internal controls, policies, and proceduresCoordinate with external auditors and tax advisorsDrive process improvements and system enhancementsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with leadership responsibilityStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reportingProven experience with multi-entity accounting and consolidationsExperience managing banking relationships and treasury functionsExperience overseeing insurance renewals and risk managementStrong payroll oversight experienceCPA preferredProficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills$150,000 - $200,000 a year#GHJSS #LI-JE1We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information.
