Controller

Location: Indianapolis, IN
Salary: $115,000 – $130,000 depending on experience

Overview

The Controller leads all accounting operations and financial reporting for a mission-driven nonprofit. This role ensures strong financial management, compliance, and supports leadership with clear, actionable insights.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements
  • Manage annual audit and Form 990 process
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Support grant accounting and reporting
  • Supervise accounting staff and partner with leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years of accounting experience; 3+ in leadership
  • Nonprofit/fund accounting experience required
  • Experience with audits and financial reporting
