Controller

Full Time | Hybrid | Clifton, NJ or Atlanta, GA | Reports to: CFO

Jaffa is a growing alternative asset management and reinsurance platform. We are seeking a senior, hands-on Controller to own accounting, reporting, controls, audit, and tax coordination across a complex, multi-entity business.

This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to build and run a strong accounting function. The Controller will lead the close and reporting process, manage outside providers and a small internal team, work directly in the details, and help strengthen the systems and processes needed as the company grows.

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close, financial reporting, reconciliations, accruals, allocations, intercompany activity, and cash accounting.
• Coordinate audits, tax filings, regulatory reporting, and day-to-day relationships with auditors, tax providers, banks, brokers, administrators, and other outside partners.
• Prepare financial statements, management reporting, variance analysis, and clear commentary on material issues.
• Strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, processes, and systems.
• Manage and develop the accounting team while remaining hands-on.

• 10+ years of accounting and controllership experience, including a Controller or comparable senior accounting role.
• Strong technical accounting skills and experience with complex, multi-entity reporting, close, audit, tax, and controls.
• Analytical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to identify and explain important financial issues.
• Experience in a meaningful-scale, institutional environment and the ability to bring that discipline to a growing organization.
• CPA and experience in asset management, insurance, reinsurance, or complex financial services are preferred.

Base salary: $150,000 to $225,000 , commensurate with experience. Benefits include 401(k) match, health reimbursement arrangement, paid time off, and sick leave.
