Controller

A VACO client is seeking an experienced Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations for a growing heavy/civil construction company. This role will oversee financial reporting, job costing, AP/AR, payroll, budgeting, cash flow, and compliance while partnering with executive leadership, estimating, and project management teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
• Manage job costing, WIP reporting, change orders, and project profitability analysis
• Oversee monthly and annual financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
• Drive collections and ensure timely project billings
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and bonding capacity
• Coordinate audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance
• Oversee union payroll, prevailing wage, and certified payroll reporting
• Lead and develop the accounting team while improving processes and controls
