The Controller supports accurate financial reporting, transaction processing, controls and business decision-making for dealership, auction and shared-service operations. The position is expected to support the company standard of professional, responsive service and to contribute to accurate, safe and efficient operations across the locations or customers it serves.Essential Duties & Responsibilities• Lead assigned team(s), establish performance expectations, coach employees and address staffing, training and accountabilityneeds.• Manage department operating results, budgets/KPIs and workflow; investigate variances and implement practical correctiveactions.• Standardize processes where appropriate while maintaining responsiveness to local dealership/auctionoperating needs.• Maintain accurate, timely records and reconciliations in the applicable dealership/auction accounting, DMS, ERP or financialsystems.• Research exceptions, aging items, variances and unsupported transactions; obtain documentation and drive resolution tocompletion.• Protect company assets through segregation of duties, approval controls, audit-ready support and appropriate handling ofconfidential financial information.• Coordinate with operating leaders on deal, inventory, receivable/payable, cash, incentive or reporting issues that affect financialaccuracy.Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.• Experience supporting operationally complex businesses required; automotive retail/auctionexperience is a plus.• Strong spreadsheet and systems proficiency; ability to reconcile data, identify exceptions and maintain accurate supportingdocumentation.• Strong communication, judgment, follow-through and customer-service skills; able to manage competing priorities with limited supervision appropriate to the role.Core CompetenciesLeadership and coachingBusiness/financial judgmentProcess disciplineChange managementCross-functional communicationWork Environment & Physical Requirements• Work is primarily office/computer based, with periodic time in dealership, auction, shop, lot or warehouse environmentsdepending on business needs.• Regular use of a computer, phone and office equipment is required; reasonable accommodations will be considered consistent with applicable law.• Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, sale days, month-end or weekends based on dealership/auction operating needs and position responsibilities.Note: This description identifies the primary nature of the role but is not an exhaustive list of every duty.
