A multi‑entity, project‑driven organization is seeking a Controller to lead day‑to‑day accounting operations for one of its operating companies. This Controller role is ideal for a hands‑on accounting leader who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys partnering closely with operations and senior leadership.
What You’ll Do
- The Controller will manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Oversee multi‑entity and intercompany accounting
- Support project‑level financial reviews and margin analysis
- Strengthen forecasting, billing, collections, and cost controls
- Produce overhead budget‑to‑actual reporting and explain variances
- Support audits, tax packages, and external reporting
- Supervise accounting staff and drive process improvements
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
- Strong background in project‑based or operationally driven accounting
- Expertise in WIP, job costing, percentage‑of‑completion, and multi‑entity consolidations
- Advanced Excel and financial systems proficiency
- Ability to collaborate effectively across operations and finance
Preferred
- Public accounting experience
- Joint venture accounting experience
- Experience supporting compliance‑focused or regulated project environments
- CPA or CCIFP credential
Location
Charlotte, NC | Regular in‑office presence with periodic regional travel
