Controller (Baltimore)

Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering with a large, established organization in the Baltimore area to identify a Controller to join its accounting leadership team. This individual will oversee key accounting functions, manage the monthly close process, and provide leadership across a complex, multi-entity environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly close activities, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Manage intercompany accounting, consolidations, and related transactions across multiple domestic and international entities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting professionals while supporting the department's continued growth.
• Partner with finance leadership and other departments to ensure accurate reporting, maintain internal controls, and support external audits.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and financial systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA or MBA preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior supervisory or management responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and financial consolidations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop accounting teams, manage competing priorities, and work effectively across a large organization.
