This leadership role is responsible for managing the Accounting team, driving financial accuracy, and implementing effective controls and policies. The Controller will collaborate closely with senior leadership, playing a key role in financial strategy and regulatory compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and develop the Accounting team, fostering a high-performance cultureEnsure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and SSAPOversee financial regulatory filings, including NAIC and CMS requirementsManage external audits, ensuring successful and efficient completionDevelop and implement strong financial controls, policies, and proceduresConduct regular balance sheet and SOX reviews across all lines of businessPrepare and present executive summaries and key financial metrics to leadershipContribute to the company's strategic planning processCoordinate financial projections with corporate Treasury to maintain required RBC levelsOversee month-end close processes, budget development, accounts payable functions, and administrative cost reviewsManage state regulatory requests and administer the annual reinsurance programQualifications & RequirementsBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)CPA certification required; public accounting experience preferredMinimum of 5 years of financial accounting experience within the health insurance industry (Medicare Advantage experience preferred)At least 10 years of progressively advanced accounting experience preferredIn-depth understanding of U.S. GAAP and regulatory requirementsStrong leadership skills with a proven ability to coach, develop, and mentor teamsHighly analytical with strong problem-solving skills and a focus on process improvementAbility to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders and provide actionable insightsStrong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlinesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience interacting with auditors, regulators, and senior leadershipThis is an opportunity to drive financial excellence and strategic growth within a dynamic health plan organization.Interested in hearing more?
