Consumer Loan Processor/UnderwriterBaker Boyer is the oldest independently owned community bank in the Pacific Northwest. We are Eastern Washington's trusted financial advisor, serving the Walla Walla Valley, Tri-Cities and Yakima Valley communities, providing wealth management as well as personal and business banking services.The Consumer Loan Processor/Underwriter works with the Consumer Loan Advisor providing basic customer service to our clients. They assist in gathering documents from clients and vendors to prepare loans for file underwriting.
This individual will help track timely delivery of disclosures, documentation and analyze income and collateral documentation. The individual must be detail oriented, self-motivated and have excellent customer service, communication, organizational and time management skills.Key responsibilities include:Greet walk-in clients, answer phones and schedule appointmentsWork with clients and Advisors to gather required documentsWork with vendors to complete all necessary order outs as requiredCommunicate with title companies, realtors, vendors and clients on loan progressAs documents arrive from the client/vendor, review for accuracy and content, updating the information as requiredReview appraisals and automated valuation models (AVMs) for accuracy and completenessResponsible for reviewing, analyzing, approving and underwriting large, unusual or complex individual consumer requests and products within company, investor and industry guidelinesDepending on complexity of underwriting, functions may include reviewing financial statements, credit reports, and applicable ratios (e.g., debt ratios, loan-to-value)Evaluating consumer loan applicationsExamining transactions to ensure accuracy and completenessPreparing formal reports for reviewEnsuring that documents are consistent and uphold to company and industry guidelinesImplementing fraud detection techniques, performing compliance reviewsAssisting with re-negotiations of loans based on lending guidelinesContacting partners to gather information to make appropriate decisions and explain rationale behind credit decisionsEvaluate all applicants' credit risk and deliver appropriate credit decisions within approval limitsCoordinates and orders closing documents for both the title companies and clientsManage follow up items after closingSkills and qualifications include:Exceptional attention to detail and accuracyAbility to work under pressure, prioritize multiple job tasks and meet deadlinesExcellent customer service skillsDemonstrate leadership proficiencyKnowledge of federal regulations as they pertain to lendingUnderstanding of income and financial documentation including comprehension of complete tax returns and supporting documentationProactive problem solverPositive approach to building relationships with other departmentsExceptional verbal and written communication skillsStrong computer literacy, including Microsoft OfficeDemonstrated ability to efficiently learn new programs and to proficiently use and interpret data provided by software toolsDemonstrated excellent time management and organizational skillsLeads by example, with approach to work and coworker interactions exemplifying professionalism both in appearance and attitudeKnowledge of all loan type products and consumer and mortgage lending regulations and loan policies.Education and experience requirements include:Processor/Underwriter I: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in business, finance or related degree; two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. General understanding of banking and/or financial services industry.Processor/Underwriter II: Developed the knowledge, skills and experience to function independently and proficiently in all aspects of loan processing and underwriting in either the Consumer or Commercial channel.
