Position Summary
Inspiritus' Refugee & Immigrant Services (RIS) Department works to build welcoming communities for refugees and immigrants and accompanies newcomers on a path from surviving to thriving. The Construction Workforce Navigator, under the supervision of the Economic Empowerment Coordinator, will serve a vital role in connecting newcomer and immigrant job seekers to construction pre-apprenticeship training, industry-recognized credentials, and employment pathways. This position addresses critical barriers to economic mobility by supporting participants through every stage of the Construction Pre-Apprenticeship Program - from recruitment and intake through job placement - while cultivating employer and apprenticeship partnerships that expand opportunities for program graduates.
Hours & Service Site
This position serves during regular Inspiritus hours of operation Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with occasional evening and weekend service. The Inspiritus office is located at 3919 Church Street, Clarkston, GA 30021. This position will include a hybrid of service sites, including the Inspiritus office and field-based service locations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruitment & Intake:
    • Recruit prospective participants for the Construction Pre-Apprenticeship Program
    • Conduct intake screening to assess eligibility and readiness
  • Case Management & Curriculum Support:
    • Provide ongoing case management for enrolled participants throughout and after the 10-12-week program
    • Track participant progress and address barriers to completion
    • Connect participants with wrap-around support services as needed
    • Assist with delivery of the construction pre-apprenticeship curriculum, including OSHA-10, NCCER Core, and Construction Site Safety Orientation (CSSO) training components, under the direction of Certified Instructors
  • Employer & Partnership Relations:
    • Build and maintain relationships with local employers, construction companies, unions, and registered apprenticeship programs to create pathways for program graduates
  • Program & Coordination:
    • Update and track goal outputs/outcomes with accuracy and timeliness
    • Coordinate program activities within the department and across other departments
    • Attend placement site, community, and other required meetings
    • Perform other duties as assigned to meet program needs
In performing these activities, the member will achieve the following goals:
  • Enroll 15 participants in the Construction Pre-Apprenticeship Program, with all 15 earning at least one industry-recognized credential (OSHA-10, NCCER Core, or CSSO) and 8 securing employment or placement in a registered apprenticeship upon completion.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with a minimum of 10 local employers or registered apprenticeship programs to create employment and apprenticeship placement pathways for program graduates.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Ability to pass Criminal History Checks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Experience and/or interest in working in a culturally diverse environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must have the ability to communicate with all people in a culturally competent manner
  • Must be sensitive to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in workforce development, social work, construction, business, or a related field
  • Experience working with a diverse staff and/or volunteers
  • Familiarity with the Atlanta construction industry, registered apprenticeship programs, and local employers
  • Experience with human services or workforce development programs
  • Reads, writes, and speaks a relevant foreign language
  • Knowledge of or interest in the construction trades

Service Environment:
The Construction Workforce Navigator will serve in a hybrid environment, with regular in-office days required weekly. This role may involve visits to active construction sites; appropriate footwear and safety awareness is expected. Local travel is estimated up to 50%. Regular interaction with clients, employers, co-workers, and community partners is expected.
Stipend:
AmeriCorps commit to serving 1715 hours over 10.5 months of service
Members will receive a living allowance of up to $20,500. In addition, members earn an education award of $7,395 upon successful completion of the full 1715 hours.
