What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a Construction Technician to join our Facilities team in Boone, NC . Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritans Purse are to help people in Jesus name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In the role of Construction Technician , you will have the opportunity to:
- Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
- Follow daily assignments regarding the day-to-day construction, renovations, and maintenance of the buildings and grounds, including but not limited to carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building setup, kitchen equipment, panel systems, and painting. Assist Maintenance Manager with day-to-day projects.
- Maintain the schedule for his/her projects as well as timelines for completion. Report any departure from the schedule to the Maintenance Manager.
- Keep accurate records of materials, equipment, and orders.
- Other duties as assigned
Serve with Excellence
As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:
- One-year certificate from college or technical school; and 5+ years construction related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. North Carolina CDL to be obtained within 3-6 months after hire date, if not already obtained
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints
- Ability to solve unusual and common work problems, advise on technical matters, and serve as a resource on the subject for others in the organization
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to respond to a changing work environment with changing priorities
- Ability to operate vehicles and equipment when needed (i.e. ATVs, forklifts and skid steer loaders)
