The Site Safety role drives a proactive safety culture across concrete construction projects, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety programs, and site-specific safety plans. This person works closely with Project Leads, Field Leads, and Crew Task Leads to identify hazards, enforce safety standards, and support incident-free execution. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting site walks, delivering training, leading incident investigations, and mentoring field personnel on safe work practices. Job Description
The Site Safety role drives a proactive safety culture across concrete construction projects, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety programs, and site-specific safety plans. This person works closely with Project Leads, Field Leads, and Crew Task Leads to identify hazards, enforce safety standards, and support incident-free execution. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting site walks, delivering training, leading incident investigations, and mentoring field personnel on safe work practices. Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) in collaboration with the Project Lead.
- Identify project-specific hazards during pre-planning and build mitigation strategies into phase plans.
- Coordinate safety requirements with GC/customer site rules, including controlled-access sites.
- Conduct daily site walks with Project Leads and Field Leads to identify and correct hazards.
- Verify PPE compliance, fall protection, equipment inspections, and housekeeping standards.
- Participate in Daily Planning and Preparation (DPP) discussions to integrate safety into daily plans.
- Stop work and escalate immediately when imminent hazards are identified.
- Deliver new-hire safety orientations and ongoing toolbox talks.
- Maintain training records, OSHA 30 tracking, and site safety documentation.
- Respond to incidents and near hits, reporting per protocol to the Project Lead and Territory Safety Lead.
- Lead or support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and First Report of Injury (FROI) documentation.
- Conduct routine safety audits and inspections, documenting findings, and trends.
- Communicate safety expectations and requirements to subcontractors and vendors.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
- Minimum 2 years of construction safety experience; concrete/civil experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills, with the ability to influence field crews and leadership.
- Data center construction experience, including familiarity with critical facility protocols and security/access requirements.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Additional certifications such as CHST or STSC.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant safety certifications required as noted above.
