About this Role

The Construction Project Manager position supports the Aligned Solar Partners strategy, one of Aligned Climate Capital’s core investment strategies focused on acquiring, financing, constructing, and operating distributed solar, community solar, and energy storage projects throughout the United States. This role represents an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing solar infrastructure investment platform managing a substantial 90-megawatt portfolio of assets. The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating the successful execution of solar project construction from contract execution through handoff to asset management. This position is ideal for candidates with hands‑on experience delivering commercial and industrial or utility‑scale solar projects, particularly those who have worked at Independent Power Producers, Engineering-Procurement-Construction firms, or solar developers. The role reports to the Director of Aligned Solar Partners and requires direct involvement in managing third‑party contractors, procurement logistics, financing coordination, and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Manage third-party EPC contractors from contract execution through substantial completion and handover to asset management
  • Ensure compliance of renewable energy projects with applicable regulations and standards
  • Ensure that project deliverables are completed in a timely manner
  • Track adherence to project budgets and financial projections
  • Review and process change orders for construction contracts
  • Ensure the fulfillment and performance of EPC contracts
  • Oversee procurement logistics for solar modules, inverters, and other solar‑specific equipment
  • Participate in and support the EPC bidding process and contract negotiations
  • Verify invoices and submit payments for project expenses
  • Support procurement decisions and logistics management of modules and equipment
  • Assist in placement of commercial debts and management of relationships with lender independent engineers
  • Coordinate with owner’s engineers on project technical requirements
  • Coordinate with utility companies for placed‑in‑service procedures and witness testing
  • Maintain regular coordination with asset management teams during the transition from substantial completion to final handoff
  • Support internal initiatives to develop project tracking and data document protocols
  • Track project status on software platforms and maintain accurate project records

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of work experience directly managing the construction of commercial and industrial or utility‑scale solar photovoltaic projects
  • Prior experience at a solar developer or Engineering-Procurement-Construction firm
  • Experience in renewable energy procurement, construction management, and engineering
  • Familiarity with the solar project lifecycle, including permitting, interconnection, procurement, and commissioning
  • Bachelor’s degree (degree in a related field is preferred but not required)
  • Proficiency in standard project management and document management software
  • Familiarity with project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar platforms
  • Experience with construction financing
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Experience at an Independent Power Producer preferred but not required
  • Experience in asset management preferred but not required
