Construction Project AccountantThe Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of assigned projects, ensuring accurate budgeting, cost tracking, billing, and financial reporting. This role works closely with project managers and finance leadership to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with company policies and contractual requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesManage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls from project initiation through closeoutTrack project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and overheadPrepare and review project-related financial reports, variance analyses, and forecastsHandle project billing, invoicing, and revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standardsMonitor project profitability and flag financial risks or discrepanciesEnsure compliance with contract terms, internal controls, and accounting policiesCoordinate with project managers to support financial decision-makingAssist with month-end and year-end close processes related to project accountingMaintain accurate project records and documentation for audits and reviewsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field5-7 years of accounting experience in project-based, construction environmentsStrong understanding of project accounting principles and cost accountingExperience with construction accounting or ERP systemsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting toolsExperience with percentage-of-completion accountingPrior experience in a project-driven industrySkills & CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracyAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneouslyEffective communication and collaboration skillsAbility to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholdersStrong organizational and time-management skillsWorking ConditionsOffice-based work environmentMay require occasional extended hours during month-end or project close
