Construction Manager – MEP Infrastructure

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) infrastructure projects at a VA Medical Center in Southern Manhattan.

This is a hands-on construction management position for someone who is comfortable leading onsite activities, coordinating multiple subcontractors, and working closely with facility operations teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of MEP construction and the ability to manage complex infrastructure work while maintaining project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Experience in healthcare or hospital construction is strongly preferred, particularly within active facilities where construction activities must be carefully coordinated around daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day construction activities involving mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure.
• Manage and coordinate approximately 2–5 subcontractors onsite.
• Build strong working relationships with subcontractors and maintain clear communication throughout project execution.
• Coordinate closely with the facility's operations and facilities teams.
• Schedule and manage utility shutdowns while minimizing disruptions to hospital operations.
• Monitor project schedules, milestones, subcontractor performance, and overall progress.
• Utilize Procore for project tracking, reporting, and documentation.
• Maintain daily construction logs, action registries, punch lists, and outstanding task lists.
• Support design-build project execution and subcontractor coordination.
• Ensure all work meets project specifications, quality standards, and established safety requirements.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of construction management experience, preferably in MEP and infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction scopes.
• Previous experience managing multiple subcontractors and coordinating onsite construction activities.
• Healthcare, hospital, or medical facility construction experience strongly preferred.
• Experience working in design-build environments is a plus.
• Proficiency with Procore preferred.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and project coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining positive relationships with contractors and facility stakeholders.
