Bookkeeper / Project Accountant– ConstructionWe are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Controller to join our Albuquerque team. This is a key accounting leadership position responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, payroll, job costing, and overall financial accuracy for a construction organization.The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience within the construction industry and a strong understanding of construction accounting, job costing, payroll, and financial reporting. A degree in Accounting is a plus, as is experience with Foundation construction accounting software.ResponsibilitiesSupervise and support two accounting staff membersReview and process weekly payrollPrepare and submit Certified Payroll ReportsSet up new projects through applicable state websites for prevailing wage projectsProcess Accounts ReceivableProcess and manage Accounts PayablePrepare and process 940 and 941 payroll tax filings across multiple statesPerform monthly bank reconciliationsPrepare monthly financial statements, including Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss StatementsMonitor and manage company cash flowPrepare journal entries and General Ledger reconciliationsEnter monthly depreciation entriesPrepare monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) reportsCoordinate and prepare for annual Workers' Compensation and insurance auditsTrack employee vacation and sick timePrepare monthly Gross Receipts/Sales Tax reportsSet up new employees within accounting and payroll systemsOversee job costing, ensuring project costs are accurately tracked against budgets and used to evaluate project profitabilityPartner with project and field teams to ensure accurate financial tracking and reportingIdentify discrepancies and maintain accurate, organized financial recordsQualifications5+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience in the construction industryStrong understanding of construction accounting and job costingExperience with payroll processing and payroll tax requirementsKnowledge of WIP reporting and construction financial statementsExperience with prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting preferredStrong understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and reconciliationsExcellent organizational and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesAccounting degree preferred, but not requiredExperience with Foundation construction accounting software is a plusWhy Join the Team?This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction accounting professional to take ownership of the accounting function while working closely with leadership and project teams.
