Conflicts Attorney - Law FirmAn international law firm seeks an experienced Conflicts Attorney based in Los Angeles, California. At least three (3) years as a Conflicts Attorney in a law firm and a J.D. are required.
This position reports to the Director of Conflicts and works within a national team.The Conflicts Attorney identifies, analyzes, and resolves potential conflicts of interest related to the Firm's new business intake and lateral hiring for all Firm offices. This position ensures new matters and attorney hires are compliant with the Firm's conflicts and risk management policies and procedures.Responsibilities - Conflicts AttorneyReview and analyze conflict reports, identify potential conflicts of interest, and assist Firm attorneys to resolve issues in a timely manner for all new client and new businessConduct conflict analysis on new lateral hires, providing concise summaries of potential conflict issues and steps required for resolution for new lateral hiresDraft clear and concise conflict waivers to resolve identified conflict issues, and ensure waivers are obtained before new client/matters are opened, which address identified conflict issueParticipate in the review, and where necessary drafting of, engagement lettersReview outside counsel guidelines to ensure Firm-wide compliance and identify differences from Firm's engagement policies, working with Firm's Attorneys and Firm's General Counsel to address any differencesAssist with the preparation of audit lettersPerform conflict searches as a back up to conflict analysts, as neededAttributes - Conflicts AttorneyAbility to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilitiesExperience with other document management/retention softwareProven ability to handle and maintain confidential informationAble to learn new concepts, technology, and skills quicklyFamiliarity with research databasesSelf-directed and highly responsive to succeed in a remote work environmentPosition Requirements - Conflicts AttorneyJuris Doctorate (JD)Preferably has Bar License in CA, IL, DC, or NYAt least three (3) years of related work experience as a Conflicts Attorney in a law firmLocal to the Los Angeles area for onsite meetings at the office, as neededCompensation$140,000 - 180,000 annually, depending on experience.Work LocationThis role will be primarily remote but will require occasional onsite presence near downtown Los Angeles. Remote work privileges are subject to change based on Firm needs and individual performance.
