Compensation: $250K-$300K (t) based on tenure/experience

Position Summary

Our client, an established and highly respected mechanical and commercial refrigeration company based in California, is conducting a confidential search for a new President to lead the organization into its next chapter of growth. This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned executive to step into the top leadership role of a well-positioned company in the mechanical/refrigeration space, guiding overall strategy, operations, and continued success. Due to the confidential nature of this search, the company`s name will be disclosed to qualified candidates as the process progresses.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide overall strategic and operational leadership for the company, reporting directly to ownership/the Board
• Set and execute the company`s long-term vision, growth strategy, and business goals
• Oversee all major business functions, including operations, sales/business development, finance, HR, and safety
• Lead, mentor, and build a strong executive and management team across departments
• Drive profitability and financial performance, with full P&L accountability
• Maintain and grow key client relationships, representing the company at the highest level with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders
• Oversee major business decisions including capital investments, expansion opportunities, and strategic partnerships
• Ensure operational excellence, quality standards, and safety compliance across all divisions/branches
• Manage succession planning and organizational development to support continued growth
• Represent the company`s culture and values, maintaining strong employee engagement and retention
• Navigate industry-specific challenges within the mechanical/refrigeration space, including labor market dynamics, supply chain, and regulatory considerations
• Partner with ownership on long-term succession and transition planning

Qualifications:

• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience within the mechanical, HVAC, or commercial refrigeration industry, including prior experience as a President, CEO, COO, or General Manager
• Proven track record of leading a company or major division through sustained growth and profitability
• Strong P&L management experience, with the ability to drive both top-line growth and operational efficiency
• Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and retain high-performing executive and management teams
• Deep understanding of the mechanical/refrigeration industry — market dynamics, client base, labor considerations, and competitive landscape
• Excellent strategic thinking, business acumen, and decision-making skills
• Strong relationship-building skills with clients, industry partners, and internal stakeholders
• Bachelor`s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred; MBA a plus
• Discretion and professionalism, given the confidential nature of this transition
• Based in or willing to relocate to California
