Run the field for a heavy-civil construction project — operations, manpower, equipment, schedule, and safety. You're the on-site authority, working hand-in-hand with the project manager and foremen to deliver on schedule and under budget.
This role suits experienced field leaders who can read drawings, spot a problem coming, and get a crew moving.
Responsibilities
- Lead the daily field operation: manpower assignment, equipment dispatch, sequencing.
- Read and interpret civil drawings and specifications; resolve conflicts in coordination with the project engineer.
- Drive the project schedule on the ground; keep the three-week look-ahead realistic and current.
- Own jobsite safety: lead the morning JHA, walk the work zone, address hazards immediately.
- Coordinate subcontractors and material deliveries with the project manager.
- Communicate progress, risks, and needs to the project manager daily.
- Mentor foremen; build crew capability over time.
- Maintain quality standards and own the punch-list close-out.
Requirements
- 7+ years in heavy-civil, highway, or marine construction (with 3+ years as superintendent or senior foreman).
- Demonstrated ability to run a crew of 10+ on a multi-phase project.
- OSHA 30; valid driver's license.
- Strong reading of civil plans and survey stakeout.
- Able to plan a week ahead while running today.
- Comfortable with field reporting tools (HCSS HeavyJob or equivalent).
