Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Computer Platform Services (CPS) Supervisor and as recognized technical expert, this position coordinates second and third shift CPS Staff within DWD Bureau of Information Technology Services (BITS).
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing advanced technical and customer service support in the maintenance of all programs, procedures and job streams for batch processing
- Improving staff productivity and technical competence to maintain and reduce costs while improving service delivery to customers
- Performing administrative duties that ensure appropriate staff coverage and assisting with determining CPS staff roles and responsibilities
- Implementing technical policies, standards and procedures
- Oversees completion of tasks and provides status reports to management
This position requires access to Federal Tax Information.

The classification title for this position is Information Systems (IS) Technical Services Consultant/Administrator (schedule 07, range 32). A 12-month probationary period will be required.
This position is not represented in a collective bargaining unit and is considered exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of appointment. Starting pay may vary for current state employees.
Travel : Minimal travel within the State of Wisconsin is anticipated.
Work Schedule: Second Shift (3:00 – 11:00 PM).Some flexibility is available with consideration given to business need .
Remote work : Employees with approved remote and hybrid-remote work arrangements are generally expected to work within the state of Wisconsin . High-speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work. Remote work options are subject to change.
Criminal histories : We also consider all qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state and local law. Finalists for this position may be required to allow DWD to conduct a background check or other checks to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. For positions with access to sensitive federal tax information, FBI fingerprinting may also be required.
Eligibility to work in United States : Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e. a US citizen or national or a lawful permanent resident) at the time of appointment. DWD does not sponsor visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. This is not a contract position. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant completing the I-9 upon hire.
Qualifications
The qualifications listed below will be evaluated in the first step of the selection process and should be clearly described in your resume/letter of qualifications.
You need to have the following experience:
- Working with batch job scheduling software (e.g. Control-M, Informatica or similar).
- Working with change management and configuration tools (e.g. Job Control Language, ChangeMan, or similar).
- Managing data sets (e.g. generating generational data sets, performing dataset moves from staging to production, performing data storage management, or similar).
- Creating, organizing and maintaining technical documentation.
- Leading projects or initiatives to improve computer platform services (e.g. performance, productivity, customer experience).
Any of the following experience would be nice to have :
- Using IT Solutions Management tools for ticket scheduling and automation (e.g. ServiceNow or similar).
- Providing training and technical direction to others on mainframe and client server scheduling, file maintenance, or similar.
- Developing standards and guidelines related to production batch operations.
- Monitoring workload, creating service delivery schedules and managing team resources (i.e. ensuring balance work assignments) to meet operational needs.
