Compounding Lab ManagerReporting to the Head Compounding Pharmacist, the Compounding Lab Manager will be responsible for daily operations within the compounding labs in the pharmacy. You will support the scale-up of growing compounding capabilities, as well as acting as a stakeholder in the development of new compounded treatments. You will strive to maximize quality and patient safety while dispensing medication in accordance with federal and state pharmacy regulations.You will:Direct personnel manager of compounding technicians, including PTO requests, performance management, time management, annual reviews, etc.Support training of all new compounding technicians on equipment and processes used in the compounding suitesBe immersed in the daily operation of a pharmacyBe a subject matter expert of all equipment in the compounding suites.
Works with suppliers as necessary to optimize equipment output with support from the Technical Services team.Partner with Quality Operations and PIC (Pharmacist in Charge) to ensure quality of compounds and safety of employees in the compounding suites.Organize, track and maintain with support of Compounding Maintenance team, all support documentation pertinent to the compounding suites. Environmental controls, scale calibrations and hood certifications are includedUnderstand and apply all applicable regulatory requirements to maintain complianceSupport the development of compounding initiativesStaff the non-sterile laboratories as needed with the highest level of competencyEnsure training materials and other knowledge/competency assessment verifications are completed in timely fashionEnsure timely completion of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with regulatory oversight from SMEs and PIC (Pharmacist in Charge)Understand Pharmacy Standards of Practice (USP 795/USP 800)Requirements:Must be familiar with USP chapters 795 and 800Experience working in a compounding pharmacy requiredFamiliarity with Computer Rx pharmacy softwareFamiliarity with pharmacy and in particular compounding SOPsPossess the ability to teach and train the pharmacy staffFluent in pharmacy operating systemsHighly organized and detail-orientedMust be able to communicate clearly, professionally and effectively with staff and managementInventory management, independently lead projects, software training, and supportEffective time management skills and a sense of urgency.Ability to multitask in a stressful environment.Good problem-solving abilities, ability to focus in a busy environment, and high attention to detail.Excellent communication and customer service skills.Pharmacy Technician Certification RequiredOur Benefits (there are more but here are some highlights):Competitive salary & comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental & visionConditions of Employment:This position will require working with Hazardous Drugs (HD) and would require that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) be worn for the length of working with these drugs.
