Finance Department AssistantTo assist the Finance department in the efficient operations of the department to ensure proper preparation and processing of payroll as it relates to a quality environment for our employees.QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalentThree years accounting/budgeting and secretarial experienceHigh level of proficiency in applied technology (keyboard, email, spreadsheets, word processing, multimedia, internet, databases)Computer proficiency in FinancePlus payroll preferredExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to provide outstanding customer service and ability to work with diverse groupsMaintain high level of integrity and confidentiality regarding salaries and employee recordsMajor Responsibilities and DutiesPayroll PreparationEstablish and maintain all salary data, budget accounts, job class, pay codes, check location and other dataSet up/process new hire, transfer, promotions in payroll data base for all employeesRecord new year data for employees in the personnel budgeting processProcess and record employee salary and stipend changesPrepare employee salary confirmationsCalculate salaries for new employeesCompute and record salary changes resulting from transfers and upgrades affecting employee positionsMaintain the FinancePlus system data for employee recordsComplete salary surveys as neededCounsel with employees and supervisors concerning leave benefits and provide employees with accurate information on deductions from pay relating to absences, medical certification requirements, return-to-work dates, etc.Work cooperatively with payroll department and risk management to process and coordinate all employee leaves and absences, including those relating to workers' compensation claimsInterface with administrators, principals, directors, and district employees regarding payroll-related issues. Assist with the equitable resolution of complaints, concerns, and problems in the area of payroll/personnel.Perform other duties as assignedProfessional Growth & DevelopmentAttend workshops/seminars that are available for staff development.Maintain technical training on new software.Working ConditionsFrequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, and reaching. Occasional lifting and moving of moderate to heavy objects.
