By joining our team, you will contribute to producing and delivering every form of salt that enhances everyday life.Job SummaryMorton Salt has an opportunity for a Compensation Director who will lead the design, implementation, and administration of our compensation programs in support of the company's total rewards philosophy. This key role will shape total rewards initiatives that attract and retain exceptional talent while driving business results and maintaining compliance.

The ideal candidate will bring both strategic vision and hands-on expertise to build compensation programs motivating high performance and supporting growth.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDefine and implement a comprehensive compensation strategy aligned with organizational goals and objectivesProactively develop and implement compensation programs including incentive plans, salary structures, job architecture, and leveling frameworksConduct thorough analysis of market trends, industry benchmarks, and internal data to assess the competitiveness and effectiveness of existing compensation programsDrive the annual compensation planning process to include merit increase, bonus, and internal equity recommendations through thoughtful analysis and consultation with business partnersCollect, analyze, and maintain analytical reports including annual merit, performance calibration, short-term incentive calculations, sales and marketing incentives, and special incentivesManage compensation functions including survey participation, market pricing, job evaluation, and other initiativesEnsure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements related to compensation and ensure effective internal processes and controls that maintain appropriate segregation of dutiesLead other compensation-related projects, as requiredPartner with leaders on compensation-related matters, providing guidance and consultation on compensation policies and practicesCreate clear communication strategies to educate employees and managers about compensation programsDevelop compensation guidelines, tools, and training materialsServe as subject matter expert on compensation philosophy and best practicesKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesBachelor's degree in business, finance, or HR-related area10+ years of progressive compensation experienceExtensive expertise in compensation principles and practicesDemonstrated history working hands-on and collaborating with HR Business Partners on the design and implementation of employee compensation programsIn-depth experience in the application of concepts associated with job evaluation, job analysis, market pricing, and total rewardsComprehensive understanding of applicable compensation laws and regulatory requirements across North America, including federal, state, and provincial regulationsAdvanced proficiency in HRIS systems and compensation toolsAdvanced Excel skills and experience with data analysis and visualization toolsStrong financial acumen and analytical capabilitiesStrategic thinking with ability to translate business needs into compensation solutionsProven project management skills with ability to manage multiple prioritiesExcellent communication and presentation abilities for all organizational levelsChange management expertise and ability to influence stakeholdersAt Morton Salt, we work best when we work as a team, when we treat one another with dignity and respect, and value the unique contributions of others.
