Description: Mahomet-Seymour Junior High is accepting applications for a COMPASS Paraprofessional for the school year. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, related service providers, and administrators to provide academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional support in a structured learning environment that promotes student growth, independence, and success.
Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of individualized instructional and behavioral plans under the direction of certified staff.
- Provide one-on-one and small-group academic and behavioral support.
- Reinforce social-emotional and independent living skills throughout the school day.
- Assist with behavior intervention strategies and de-escalation techniques as directed.
- Support students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, electives, community-based activities, and other school routines.
- Collect and document student progress and behavioral data as requested.
- Prepare instructional materials and assist in maintaining a structured, safe, and organized learning environment.
- Must have an Illinois ELS Paraprofessional Educator Endorsement or the Short-Term Approval for the Paraprofessional or the ability to obtain one of these license options prior to employment.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning, behavioral, and communication needs is preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to assist students with academic, behavioral, and personal care needs as assigned.
- Must be able to pass a physical abilities test prior to starting employment.
