The pay range is between $23.73 to $34.71 per hour, with initial placement based upon experience and subject to the terms of the CSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Contact Karen Moncayo at DescriptionPosition: Community Schools Administrative Specialist Position Number: Varies FLSA: Non-exempt Evaluated by/Reports to: Site Administrator Salary Grade: CCSPP Grant Skill Grade 109 204 Day Work CalendarSummaryUnder the direction of the site lead, the Community Schools Administrative Specialists will offer support for the Community Schools Center by greeting and triaging students; liaising with community providers; providing organizational support for Wellness-related services, school events and partnerships; scheduling student appointment; assisting the Community Schools Program Lead and/or Wellness Coordinator with case management duties; and assisting with documentation and data collection.Distinguishing Career FeaturesThe Community Schools Administrative Specialist is the entry level position of a career pathway providing support to our community school centers. This position provides organizational support for the Wellness-related services such as documentation and data collection, and assisting the Community Schools Program Lead and/or Wellness Coordinator with clerical administrative support with case management duties.

Community School and other positions such as those connected with parent engagement and early intervention are part of special funded programs combining education support and social services. The second advancement in this career pathway would be to the position of a School to Community Liaison. The final step advancement would be to the position of a Community Schools Program Lead.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssists Community Schools Program Lead and/or Wellness Coordinator with individual student/family case coordinationMaintains records of student/family wraparound servicesWorks directly with parents and families to connect them with wraparound supports and outside agenciesAssists site administration in planning, preparation and facilitation of parent education and engagement activitiesIdentifies and secures summer and other enrichment scholarship opportunities and assists families with the application process.Assists with interpretation and translation as needed for school staff, events, and materials.Performs other related duties as assigned that support the objective of the position.QualificationsBoard Approved 8/14/23Knowledge and Skills The position requires basic knowledge of programs at the federal, state, community, and district level aimed at improving attendance and achievement with low income, immigrant, and other potentially 'at-risk' students and families. Requires knowledge of basic record keeping and case management processes. Requires knowledge of and skill at using personal computers to record information and send communications. Requires sufficient human relation skills to work productively and cooperatively with teachers, students, and parents in informal settings, exercise patience when conveying information, and demonstrate sensitivity to the special needs of students.

Requires knowledge of and competency in a second language.Abilities Experience in working with community-based organizations is preferred for this position. May require competency and experience in a second language as translator and interpreter. Demonstrated success in program planning/management activities furthering school success, student achievement, and positive child, youth, and family development.Physical Abilities Requires the ability to perform indoors in a home, hospital, or other non-school site environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires near visual acuity to read and write printed materials and computer screens. Requires hearing and speech ability for ordinary and telephonic conversation, to speak to groups, and to hear sound prompts from equipment. Requires ambulatory ability to move about office, classroom, and school grounds, to tutor, assist with presentations, and reach work materials.

Requires sufficient manual and finger dexterity to demonstrate teaching aids, to point out important words/figures to parents and students, and to operate personal computers. May be required to bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl and to lift greater than 25 pounds.Education and Experience The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and experience working with students and parents in an instructional or social service setting. Additional higher education in social science is preferred and may substitute for some experience.
