Communications TechnicianPeraton is seeking a Communications Technician to support the NASA Deep Space Network (DSN) at the Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex (GDSCC) in Fort Irwin, California.The Deep Space Network is NASA's global network of giant radio antennas that enables communication with interplanetary spacecraft and supports critical radar and radio astronomy observations. As part of this mission, you'll help maintain the communications infrastructure that supports humanity's exploration of deep space.This is a hands-on technical role supporting the maintenance, repair, and operation of mission-critical communications systems across the Goldstone complex.What You'll Do:Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair voice, data, and video communication systemsConfigure and support Cisco VoIP hardware/softwareInstall, test, splice, and maintain fiber optic cabling and databasesProgram and maintain Motorola two-way radio systemsImplement engineering changes to operational and administrative communications equipmentPerform preventive maintenance, inspections, and safety checksTroubleshoot and repair cabling, wiring, and communications infrastructureDocument maintenance actions, service requests, and technical work performedOperate forklifts, aerial platforms, and lifting equipment after certificationInterface with internal teams, engineers, and external customers to support operationsRequired Qualifications:BS 0-2 Years or HS 6-8Working knowledge of voice/data communications systems and circuit testing methodologiesExperience with fiber optic installation, splicing, and testingFamiliarity with communications technologies such as:T1 / SONET MultiplexingOptical Multiplexing / Fiber OpticsPBX / Voice SystemsMicrowave / Radio SystemsEthernet / Network CommunicationsExperience with cable installation, wiring, and troubleshootingAbility to obtain and maintain NASA job-specific certificationsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work in field environmentsComfortable climbing heights up to 300 feetAbility to work outdoors in harsh/desert environmentsMust be able to obtain a Trusted Background Check / NCICMust possess and maintain a valid Driver's License / REAL IDPeraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy.
