Full-Time | On-Site | Entry-Level
A meaningful mission deserves more than a message. It deserves to be understood.
Nonprofit organisations do important work, but getting people to understand their mission takes more than sharing information. It takes clear explanations, thoughtful answers, and conversations built on trust.
That's where you come in.
At Cleveland Canvass, we work exclusively with nonprofit organisations, helping them connect with communities through face-to-face marketing and outreach.
As a Communications Associate, you'll represent nonprofit campaigns at live events, pop-ups, and designated public-facing locations throughout Greater Cleveland. You'll actively approach members of the public, explain campaign initiatives, and help turn genuine interest into supporter engagement, registrations, and measurable results.
This is an active, in-person communications and customer acquisition role, not a desk-based PR or digital marketing position.
What You'll Be Doing
- Start real conversations. Approach members of the public and introduce nonprofit campaigns professionally and confidently.
- Make the message clear. Explain campaign initiatives, answer questions, listen to concerns, and build trust through honest communication.
- Turn interest into action. Help secure supporter sign-ups, registrations, donations, or campaign-related marketing where applicable.
- Support live campaigns. Assist with promotional events, campaign materials, branded displays, and event stations.
- Work toward results. Collaborate with teammates, contribute to individual and team performance goals, and improve through coaching and feedback.
What You'll Gain Along the Way
- Full training and ongoing mentorship.
- Hands-on experience in communications, nonprofit outreach, and customer engagement.
- Opportunities to strengthen public speaking, listening, relationship-building, and professional confidence.
- A collaborative environment built around teamwork and practical learning.
- Weekly performance incentives.
- Career development opportunities, with additional responsibilities based on performance and growth.
You Don't Need a Traditional Communications Background
Experience in retail, hospitality, customer service, sales, events, volunteering, or other people-facing activities can be valuable, but previous professional marketing or communications experience isn't required.
We're interested in people who communicate respectfully, take initiative, enjoy learning, and are comfortable speaking with unfamiliar people.
You should also be willing to handle disinterest professionally, accept feedback, and take responsibility for your results.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States and available for full-time, on-site work in the Cleveland area.
Good communication helps people understand what's possible. Build that skill through work with a real purpose.
