Job TitleThis position involves independent work coordinating administrative tasks and assignments and providing analysis and research on a variety of administrative matters.Examples Of Work PerformedThe job includes performing special assignments, research, and report preparation. It also involves reviewing records and reports which require action and recommending solutions or courses of action.
The role assists the supervisor in handling daily administrative duties and acts in matters where authority has been delegated. Confidential correspondence is prepared, telephone inquiries are answered to relieve the supervisor from routine assignments, and a variety of correspondence is processed. The job trains and supervises clerical and/or other administrative personnel to ensure accurate and smooth workflow of the unit. Problems are defined and investigated, and methods of resolution are formulated. The job assists in formulating and recommending programs and policies of the unit, interprets and administers policies, and represents the supervisor at meetings and conferences. General office management duties are performed, and the job assists in planning full committee and/or subcommittee meetings and workshops. Notices, detailed agenda, bill analyses, and other meeting materials are prepared, meetings are recorded and reported out, and the job acts as the official custodian of bills referred to committee. Amendments and bills are drafted, and substantive edits are made to committee bills, bill analyses, and other documents. Other related duties are performed as required.Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesThe job requires knowledge of administrative principles and practices, research techniques, attention to detail, teamwork, data collection and analysis, work assignment coordination, effective communication, tactful public interaction, confidential information handling, rules and regulations application, report and record preparation, problem-solving techniques, training, and supervision.Minimum QualificationsA bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
