Job Title: Senior Commissioning Authority (CxA) / Systems Integration Lead
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Commissioning Authority to lead the validation and integration of complex building systems. You will serve as the technical lead for commissioning projects, overseeing the process from equipment startup through functional performance testing and final turnover. This is an high-impact role for a professional who is dedicated to ensuring that mechanical, electrical, and life-safety systems operate exactly as intended.
This is a senior-level position for an engineer or construction expert who has a deep understanding of facility operations. You will manage the interface between design intent and physical reality, coordinating with contractors, engineers, and owners to resolve system deficiencies and deliver high-performance, code-compliant facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning Leadership & Execution
• Project Lifecycle Oversight: Lead all phases of commissioning for new construction, renovations, and existing facilities. Execute equipment startup, QA/QC inspections, and full-scale functional performance testing.
• Systems Validation: Verify that complex building systems meet owner requirements and are fully compliant with relevant national codes (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA).
• Technical Troubleshooting: Identify, document, and proactively lead the resolution of system deficiencies. Manage the turnover process, including reports, testing procedures, and documentation packages.
Stakeholder & Operational Coordination
• Collaboration: Act as the primary commissioning liaison for clients, contractors, and design engineers. Facilitate clear communication regarding technical performance and operational expectations.
• Strategy & Planning: Develop and execute commissioning plans that align with project schedules and quality goals. Support ongoing facility asset management and performance-optimization initiatives.
• Safety & Quality: Ensure all commissioning activities are conducted with a "safety-first" mindset, maintaining the highest standards for performance and reliability.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent combination of education and extensive professional experience.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in commissioning or facility systems validation.
• System Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of electrical power systems, mechanical/HVAC, life safety, and low-voltage controls.
• Standards Proficiency: Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, NFPA codes, and TAB (Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing) processes.
• Citizenship/Travel: U.S. Citizenship required; must be willing to travel up to 50% for field assignments.
Preferred Attributes
• Commissioning Certifications: CxA, CCP, CBCP, or similar industry-recognized credentials.
• Experience with Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and complex performance validation in mission-critical environments.
• A proactive, consultative leadership style-the ability to identify design/installation flaws before they become operational failures.
