Middleborough's Commission on Disability is a 9-person town commission whose members are appointed by the Town Manager. The Commission generally meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month and its meetings are hybrid with most members attending in-person at town hall but with the meeting occurring simultaneously over Zoom for members and the public. The Commission is tasked with researching local problems of individuals with disabilities, advising and assisting the town officials and employees to ensure compliance with laws and regulations affecting individuals with disabilities, coordinating and carrying out programs to address the problems faced by individuals with disabilities, review and make recommendations about policies, procedures, services, activities, and facilities of the town, and to provide information, referrals, guidance, and assistance to individuals, agencies, businesses, and organizations in matters pertaining to disability. Pursuant to state law, a majority of the appointed commissioners must consist of individuals with disabilities, the current vacancies allows for two individuals with disabilities.
