Job Overview

A law firm seeks a California-licensed litigation associate with 3 to 5 years of commercial litigation experience for its Torrance, CA office. The role involves working with a team of litigators and paralegals to assist clients with civil court litigation of commercial and business-related disputes, as well as other dispute resolution proceedings.

Duties

  • Manage litigation and dispute-resolution matters for clients, including regular client communication.
  • Prepare for, conduct, and defend depositions throughout the United States, including necessary travel.
  • Prepare and sign pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents in accordance with Rule 11 obligations.
  • Argue contested, dispositive, and discovery motions.
  • Conduct witness interviews and gather client materials.
  • Conduct research and draft appropriate legal memoranda.
  • Assist with trials, arbitrations, and other evidentiary hearings as needed.
  • Respond to clients in a timely, forthright, and professional manner.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with litigation attorneys, legal assistants, and assigned staff.

Requirements

  • Active license to practice law in California.
  • 3-5 years of commercial litigation experience at a law firm.
  • Federal and state court experience.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

Certifications
