A well-established and highly respected Maryland law firm is seeking an experienced Of Counsel to join their Commercial Litigation practice. Position Overview
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution. The successful candidate will handle a broad range of business disputes, work directly with clients, lead litigation strategy, and regularly appear before state and federal courts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage sophisticated commercial litigation matters through all phases of the litigation life cycle.
- Develop case strategy, assess risk, and advise clients on litigation objectives and outcomes.
- Serve as lead trial counsel in court proceedings, arbitrations, mediations, and evidentiary hearings.
- Draft and oversee pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other substantive filings.
- Conduct and defend depositions, including fact and expert witness examinations.
- Present oral arguments on significant motions and other contested issues.
- Act as the primary client contact and provide strategic guidance throughout the course of representation.
- Mentor junior attorneys and support the development of litigation team members.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of commercial litigation experience within a law firm environment.
- Proven ability to independently manage complex litigation matters and lead case teams.
- Strong advocacy, legal writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Admission to the Maryland Bar required.
- Additional admission in Washington, D.C. and/or Virginia is a plus.
