The Role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Commercial Litigation Attorney to create real-world litigation work product that supports the evaluation and training of advanced AI systems. You will produce practical, deliverable-quality legal drafts across commercial disputes while responding to evolving case theories and simulated opposing counsel actions.

This is a part-time contractor opportunity for candidates located in the United States. The expected commitment is 20 or more hours per week, with compensation of $100 to $150 per hour.

What You'll Do

You will combine experienced litigation drafting with structured evaluation of what makes a legal response robust. Assignments may involve commercial contract, shareholder or LLC, and commercial real estate disputes.

• Draft motions, briefs, demand letters, discovery documents, and related litigation work product.
• Develop and maintain coherent case theories and procedural postures throughout each dispute.
• Revise drafts using detailed feedback and meet prescribed project specifications with minimal redirection.
• Create rubric items that identify the qualities of strong legal responses.
• Flag procedural ambiguities, missing facts, and substantive issues for review by project leads.
• Apply litigation judgment across assigned commercial dispute matters.

Requirements

This role requires a Juris Doctor degree and active, inactive, retired, or lapsed admission in at least one US jurisdiction. Candidates must also have at least three years of post-JD litigation experience, including hands-on drafting, discovery, and motion practice.

• Demonstrated drafting ability in commercial contract, shareholder or LLC, or commercial real estate disputes.
• Strong legal writing and formal legal register.
• Native-level English.
• Ability to follow detailed specifications and incorporate senior feedback promptly.
• Ability to maintain coherent case theories and identify procedural or factual issues.

The following experience is helpful but is not listed as required: work across multiple matter types, federal court practice, AI model training and evaluation, or experience in a law firm environment.
