Commercial Litigation Associate - Short Hills
Dentons US LLP is seeking a mid‑level associate to join our nationally recognized Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice in Short Hills, New Jersey. Candidates should have 4–6 years of complex litigation experience, strong academic credentials, and experience in high‑level insurance coverage litigation, dispute analysis, and coverage assessments.
Responsibilities and Practice
Expected responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Working on all aspects of commercial litigation from inception through trial and appeal.
- Conducting legal research and writing memoranda.
- Drafting complex case analyses and preparing briefs, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
- Conducting, propounding, and responding to discovery (documents, written discovery, depositions).
- Working with clients, witnesses, experts and other counsel.
- Analyzing insurance coverage and extra‑contractual disputes, including drafting coverage opinions and related analyses.
Our associates work collaboratively with partners and clients and serve as key members of our team, employing the most appropriate tools and strategies for each stage of the process.
Salary range: $275,000 to $300,000 (based on experience and location). Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), short‑term/long‑term disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, paid holidays, and discretionary bonuses.

- Deposition and court experience preferred.
- Previous law firm experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with insurance coverage litigation preferred; candidates with complex litigation backgrounds and a genuine interest in high‑level coverage work encouraged.
Other Requirements
- Must be licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey and be in good standing.
- Submission of a cover letter, resume, law school transcript, and at least one writing sample.
