Commercial Litigation Associate - San Francisco/Oakland

Responsibilities

  • Working on all aspects of commercial litigation from inception through trial and appeal
  • Conducting legal research and writing memoranda
  • Drafting complex case analyses and preparing briefs, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents
  • Conducting, propounding, and responding to discovery (documents, written discovery, depositions)
  • Working with clients, witnesses, experts and other counsel

Compensation and Benefits

Pursuant to California law, the salary range for this position will be $280,000 to $345,000 based on experience and location. Based on years of experience, Dentons associates may have a title of Associate, Managing Associate, or Senior Managing Associate. Technical skills

  • 4-6 years of complex and sophisticated litigation experience is required
  • Strong writing and case management skills, level-appropriate direct experience handling clients and adversaries, and excellent oral advocacy skills are required
  • Deposition and court experience is preferred
  • Previous law firm experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience or interest in first party insurance bad faith (defending enterprise insurers and financial institutions) and financial services/securities litigation (defending financial institutions, securities broker-dealers, insurance and annuity companies) is ideal, but not required

Other requirements

  • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of California and be in good standing
  • Submission of a cover letter, resume, law school transcript, and at least one writing sample
