Our Am Law 100 client is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate to join its Miami office. This is an excellent opportunity for a business litigator who wants to handle sophisticated disputes, gain meaningful courtroom experience, and work directly with experienced partners and clients in a collaborative environment.
The role offers exposure to complex matters in both state and federal court, with significant responsibility across discovery, motion practice, depositions, hearings, settlement strategy, and trial preparation.
Role Overview
The associate will work on a broad range of complex business litigation matters and take an active role throughout the lifecycle of each case.
Responsibilities may include:
- Managing written and document discovery
- Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings
- Taking and defending depositions
- Preparing witnesses for testimony
- Appearing at status conferences and hearings
- Arguing motions in state and federal court
- Participating in settlement conferences and negotiations
- Assisting with trial strategy and preparation
- Conducting sophisticated legal research and analysis
- Working directly with partners and clients on case strategy and developments
Candidate Profile
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required
- Active Florida Bar membership in good standing required
- 3-4 years of commercial or complex business litigation experience
- Experience handling matters in both state and federal courtExperience handling matters in both state and federal court
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Experience with discovery, depositions, and motion practice
- Trial preparation and settlement experience preferred
- Federal judicial clerkship experience is a plus
- Fluency in Spanish and English, including written and verbal legal communication, is strongly preferred
- Strong academic credentials
- Excellent interpersonal and client-service skills
- Ability to thrive in a busy, collaborative litigation practice
