Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Chiller Technician in Austin, TX to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair large-scale cooling systems for commercial and industrial clients.
Impact
- Ensures the operational efficiency and reliability of critical cooling infrastructure for high-value clients.
- Minimizes system downtime through expert diagnostics and precision mechanical repairs.
- Enhances customer retention by providing technical leadership and superior service quality.
- Mentors junior technicians to improve the overall technical proficiency of the service department.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair complex electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of industrial chiller systems.
- Maintain and service diverse equipment including boilers, cooling towers, and large-scale air handling units.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to manufacturer specifications to extend equipment life cycles.
- Calibrate systems to optimize energy efficiency and performance standards.
- Document all work performed with high attention to detail for internal records and client reporting.
- Communicate progress and technical requirements clearly to dispatchers, managers, and customers.
- Manage parts procurement needs and coordinate with supervisors to ensure timely project completion.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to handle emergency service requests after hours.
Requirements
Must-Haves
- At least 7 years of experience in commercial chiller service and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical HVAC components.
- Valid driver license with a clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work comfortably at heights.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to work independently in the field.
Nice-to-Haves
- EPA Universal Certification.
- Advanced factory training on major brands like Trane, York, or Carrier.
- Experience with building automation systems or Niagara platforms.
