Commercial Application Engineer (CAE) provides techno-commercial leadership on assigned deals, working hand-in-hand with the Sales team to enable growth of controls product lines across the pole/region. This individual will be responsible to lead the overall proposal development, by bringing key stakeholders (sales, finance, engineering, product line, tax, risk, legal, execution teams, among others) to implement the overall technical and commercial deal strategy. The Commercial Application Engineer (CAE) reports for the Pole/Regional Commercial Operations Leader.We are seeking a dynamic and technically proficient Commercial Application Engineer (CAE) to support sales activities, drive customer engagement, and provide techno-commercial tailored offers for industrial control system solutions. This position offers those with a strong controls technical background with a passion to learn or enhance your skills in the technical and commercial skills and work with the sales, engineering, services, risk, and product teams to translate customer requirements into competitive and technically sound proposals that align with our global business objectives. This person will have the following responsibilities:Review and influence customer specification, drawings, RFP, RFQ.
Develop table of compliance (TOC)Act as the deal focal point of contact, and provide application engineering guidance to customers, channel partners, and internal stakeholdersLead the quoting process of Core and Complex Controls offeringsUtilize available quoting tools, models, leverage existing technical libraries & materials, system configurations/hardware, design standards, etc... to develop tailored control system solutionsEnsure accurate cost estimation including project risk management: (i) technical, (ii) execution, and (iii) commercial risks within the Inquiry to Order (ITO) processCoordinate with supply chain and third-party providers to obtain quotations for extended project scopeWork with sales and pricing team to develop the competitive deal winning pricing & strategyConsolidate deal financialsPresent deals for commercial review board (CRB) for approvals and ensure ITO process compliance, including review of terms and conditions & risk management assessmentManage the tender schedule, and ensure timely internal approvals, bid submission and readiness for order bookingLead the techno-commercial proposal generationParticipate in customer meetings, negotiation or presentationsOwn project handover from ITO (inquiry-to-order) phase to OTR (order-to-remittance) phase to execution team upon receipt of PO or contract signatureAttend technical and commercial trainingsContribute to continuous improvement of commercial process, proposal templates, application guides, and best practices in area of expertiseMeet/Exceed Commercial KPI's such as: Quality, Proposal Cycle Time, On Time Delivery, etc.Required Qualifications:Engineering degree, mechanical, electrical, electronic, power preferredMinimum 5 years' experience in application/design/ Field commissioning services.Strong Experience in Industrial Control SystemsUp to 30% travel required for short customer meetings and opportunity developmentEffective written and oral communication skillsEffective use of Personal Computer TechnologiesDesired Characteristics:Commercial and contractual expertise.Experience in Unit Control (Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Aero, Hydro, Nuclear), DCS, Generator (Excitation/Static Starters), Human Machine Interface (HMI)Field service or Application Engineering experience of more than 5 years.Experience in developing and writing specifications and/or proposals.Creative solution and problem-solving skillsPerson with high energy and with high passionPay Transparency:For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $102,100.00 - 170,200.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% performance bonus/Sales Incentive Compensation/equity.
