Position Overview LEAD Staffing is seeking experienced Combo Structural Welders / Shipfitters to support shipbuilding and marine construction projects. Qualified candidates must demonstrate strong structural fitting, fabrication, and FCAW welding skills. Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural steel welding using FCAW (Flux-Core) processes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications.
• Measure, lay out, cut, fit, and fabricate structural steel components.
• Perform wash welds, grinding, beveling, and weld joint preparation.
• Fit and assemble bulkheads, decks, foundations, and structural supports.
• Operate cutting torches, grinders, and fabrication equipment.
• Follow all shipyard safety and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

• Previous shipyard or heavy industrial welding and fitting experience.
• Strong proficiency in FCAW structural welding and shipfitting.
• Ability to independently read blueprints and perform accurate layouts.
• Experience with wash welds, cutting, measuring, and fabrication.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and physically demanding shipyard environments.
• Must successfully complete required welding qualification testing.

Welding Test Requirements Candidates MUST be able to pass an FCAW welding test using ceramic backing in the following positions:

• 2G - Horizontal
• 3G - Vertical
• 4G - Overhead

All test welds will be visually inspected and bend tested to verify welding proficiency.
